ACE Initiative

CAMT has assembled a broad partnership of private and public enterprises, government entities and universities to create an economic development initiative to focus on rapid commercialization of aerospace and clean energy technology. CAMT projects that 10,000 jobs will be created across the state as a result of the ACE initiative, which is also anticipated to create a $8 billion net economic output over five years.

As part of this state-wide economic development effort, CAMT will join private sector companies to develop an ACE Manufacturing and Innovation Park. The Park will eventually house up to 100 aerospace and clean energy companies. The unique collaborative focus of the campus will connect businesses with many of the shared services, education programs and resources necessary to reduce the time between development and production of clean energy and aerospace technologies.

By collaborating and sharing ideas and technology, this initiative will help Colorado companies launch new products, use new technology, and succeed in the global commercial marketplace. For more details, please visit the FAQs: click here

ACE Programs

  • The NASA Technology Matching Pilot Program has helped several companies match NASA technologies to further their business. A NASA-funded Technical Advisor was placed with CAMT on October 1, 2011. Learn more here.

  • CAMT and NASA are also jointly forming a Technical Advisory Council, of which Michael Marlaire, Director of the NASA Research Park at NASA Ames Research Center, is one of the first confirmed members. This Advisory Council will enhance efforts to unearth potential technologies applicable to commercial products manufactured by Colorado companies.

  • The Colorado Supplier Asset Map is a Colorado-wide map and database of technology, resources, and manufacturing capabilities and capacities—with an initial focus on the supply chain for the Aerospace and Clean Energy (ACE) Regional Innovation Cluster. All Colorado suppliers are welcome to participate. Learn more and get your company listed in the Asset Map here.
  • The Manufacturing Center of Excellence (MCOE) is a partnership working to ensure the global competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in the southern region of Colorado. By providing access to advanced manufacturing training and education programs, MCOE aims to grow and sustain manufacturing competitiveness. Learn more here.
  • The Industry Programs Office assists Colorado companies, non-profit or public entities and communities to access state and federal grants or government programs designed to assist ACE companies. Learn more here.

  • CAMT and the CSU Office of Community and Economic Development are partners in the CAMT Northern Colorado Manufacturing Extension Partnership Regional Office at CSU in Fort Collins, CO. This partnership is reaching across Colorado to match companies with available technologies from our research labs and universities. Learn more here.

  • ACE Events. Multiple “ACE Exchange” events were held to convene aerospace and clean energy companies to hear from national speakers and network about quality, sustainability, and innovation over the last 1.5 years. CAMT also hosted NASA Chief Technologist Bobby Braun for a “Manufacturers’ Roundtable” in April of this year.

  • Supplier Scouting programs with the U.S. Department of Defense and Energy has allowed CAMT to find Colorado suppliers that can provide hard-to-source parts to the government. Read about a Colorado supplier participating in this program here.
